History

Let us go back a few years. April 2003. The opening of Marrol’s Hotel. One of the hotel’s true gems was undoubtedly Messina Restaurant, one of the most beautifully designed restaurants in Slovakia, named after the renowned Italian Renaissance painter Antonello da Messina.

Why is the restaurant at Marrol’s Hotel called HOUDINI?

Harry Houdini (1874–1926) was an actor, film producer and amateur aviator, but above all, a legendary magician. Born in Hungary, he moved to America with his family as a child and rose to fame in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

With his astonishing escapes and feats – from breaking free from a Siberian prison transport carriage and opening a judge’s safe to escaping from Scotland Yard’s metal handcuffs – Harry Houdini captivated audiences on his tours across England, the Netherlands, Germany and Russia, as well as at home in America.

Harry Houdini’s magic provides the inspiration for the culinary wonders created by Michal Škrabák. Hence our slogan: The Magic of Wine. The Art of Flavour.
